I am a freelance cartoonist in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who is always on the look out for new projects. I’ve worked as a part-time cartoonist for the last 10 years. I am available for murals, logos, children’s parties, illustrations, and most anything else your imagination can conjure up.
Feel free to contact me and we can talk about potential projects.
I have created temporary holiday and special event window murals for businesses. They are a great eye catcher that can be tailored to any theme or occasion.
I have also painted murals for children’s rooms and nurseries. These can be customized to your wildest imaginations.
Please see more in the Mural section of my Portfolio.
I have been commissioned to illustrate several projects that I am particularly proud of. One being a self-published childrens book written by a long-time friend. It is called “Molly the Moose” and is available for purchase here: http://www.islemadame.com/mollymoose/
Another project which has become an annual contract is a calendar for Alberta One-Call Corporation. I was approached by them to create characters, the gags, and illustrations for their 12 month calendar. This has been a rewarding experience for both myself and Alberta One-Call Corporation. I look forward to the challenging team effort each year to get these illustrations out under a tight deadline.

My interest in cartoons comes from my love of newspaper cartoon strips. Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, Sherman’s Lagoon and many others have influenced me tremendously over the years. To the point where my dream became to become a professional cartoonist myself.
That dream came true April 19, 1998 when my first self-published feature – “Earl, Cape Breton’s First Superhero” appeared in the inaugural issue of the Sunday Herald. The bumbling adventures of a superhero with no super powers and his sidekick seagull graced the pages of Halifax’s largest newspaper for many months to come.
The regional cartoon strip had many regular fans and garnered some controversy along the way. In my quest for a cartoon strip with a larger mass appeal I developed “Ink Monkey Sweatshop.” The Sunday Herald was gracious enough to allow me to retire “Earl” and replace it with “Ink Monkey.”
“Ink Monkey Sweatshop” chronicled the adventures of a diminutive Elvis look-alike, his captive cartooning monkey, and their dim neighbor.
I worked on “Ink Monkey” until my next brainchild – “Gordie.” I revisited the idea of a regional strip about a hapless superhero. This time it was a Canadian beaver who wins super powers from a Tim Horton’s coffee cup. This strip appeared exclusively online for some time and was the anchor of a website involved in Canadian pop culture. It also appeared briefly in upstart “Eh Magazine” but regretfully that publication was short-lived.

One of my favorite projects to take on are cartoon logos for businesses. Drawing something that suits the business and displaying a cartoon in a clever manner is a unique experience each and every time.
